England Midfielder Hospitalized After Celebration Mishap
England midfielder Jordan Henderson was removed from the field on a stretcher after suffering a wrist injury during post-match celebrations, which followed the team's round of 16 win over Mexico.
According to England manager Thomas Tuchel, Henderson was taken to the hospital, with Tuchel stating, 'It's quite a serious injury.'
In a BBC interview, Tuchel elaborated, 'Not good. Jordan just fell over and injured his wrist. It looks really bad.'
The incident occurred shortly after the final whistle, as players and staff gathered behind the goal where England fans were seated. After singing along to Oasis' 'Wonderwall' with the supporters, the mood quickly shifted when Henderson fell, prompting teammates, coaching staff, and medical personnel to rush to his side.
Harry Kane acknowledged the incident, saying, 'Hendo just fell over there,' as he pointed toward the end of the field where it happened.
Team officials have yet to provide an official update on the severity of Henderson's injury or the potential duration of his absence from the team.
Henderson has made only one appearance in England's five World Cup games so far, playing the final six minutes of the win over Panama in the group stage. He also received a yellow card from the sidelines on Sunday night.
