The Unforgettable Journey of Cape Verde
Cape Verde's remarkable 2026 World Cup campaign may be over, but the impact of their courageous performances will be remembered for a long time. With a population of less than 600,000, this tiny island nation off the western coast of Africa made a significant impression on the global stage, taking points off former World Cup winners Spain and Uruguay before advancing to the knockout rounds.
A Knockout Stage Debut to Cherish
During the group stage, Cape Verde showed incredible resilience, drawing with Saudi Arabia to secure a spot in the knockout rounds. Their magical run continued as they went head-to-head with defending champion Argentina, matching their first goal in regulation and another in extra time, courtesy of Sidny Lopes Cabral's breathtaking goal.
